Easy to apply, the Nu-Flame Clear Impregnation system is a ready-to-use solution that is absorbed into the surface of timber. Although the solution is clear, the timber may darken slightly. Ideal for timber substrates that require Class ‘0’ Spread of Flame or Euro class B. This fire retardant system is perfect for all wooden structures such as loft flooring, garages and timber dwellings.
Product Use in the Workplace
- Homes – A fire in the home not only destroys possessions, it destroys memories and things that cannot be replaced. Add to that the hassle and pain of dealing with the insurance company and being homeless, protecting from fire damage is a very sensible move. Apply this coat onto timber surfaces (e.g. trusses).
- Log Cabin – Wood, wood everywhere. Wood is food for fire. Many log cabins are heated through log burners which present immediate risk since a fire already exists in the cabin. Along side a keen concern for safety, making the timber flame retardant should be on the list. As an added bonus, you also have the peace of mind that this coating is not harmful to the environment.
Features & Benefits
- Quick penetration to the surface of the substrate.
- Internal and external use.
- Colourless but may change colour of some substrates.
- Not harmful to the environment.
- Will not wash out from the substrate once dry.
- 12-month shelf life.
Materials treated with Nu-Flame Clear Impregnation when exposed to temperatures of up to 1700°C are subject to charcoal forming, restricting the spread of flame.
Nu-Flame Clear Impregnation for use on cladding, staircases, trusses, joists, walls, log cabins, garages, pool enclosures, saunas and many other projects both inside and outside. Ensure surfaces to be treated are clean, free from contamination and dry; remove existing coatings by stripping or sanding. Best results obtained when moisture content is less than 20%.
Do not mix with other solutions, stir well. Use brush, roller, spray (use appropriate mask), dip, or vacuum method. A small area of the substrate should be tested for compatibility before the full final coat is applied. Clean equipment with water immediately after use. Either 2 coats @ 8m²/Litre per coat, or 3 coats @ 12m²/Litre per coat depending on moisture content of the substrate and atmospheric conditions. Coats should be applied at intervals of 1 hour minimum. Do not mix with other solutions, stir well. Minimum temperature for application 5°C. Clean equipment with water immediately after use.
Any treated timber which is to be over-coated with a varnish, stain or paint should be tested for adhesion and compatibility purposes prior to fully over-coating. It is advisable to overcoat with water based or acrylic decorative paint finishes to ensure that the fire retardant properties are not compromised.
A minimum of 1 hour between coats. Full drying time approximately 24 hours at + 20°C / 65° relative humidity. Maximum fire retarding capabilities are achieved after 7 days. Drying times are dependent upon absorption of substrate and drying conditions. At low temperatures and / or conditions of high relative humidity, drying times will be extended
Store away from direct sunlight and sources of heat. Protect from frost.
